Igleheart Gardens Arboretum and Bird Sanctuary, nestled on 25 acres in Evansville, Indiana, is a refined historic estate transformed into a graceful arboretum and bird sanctuary. Established by Phyllis Igleheart Kerdasha in tribute to her parents, the site preserves a legacy of landscape, architecture, and nature that speaks of both family heritage and the serenity that Phyllis found in the idyllic landscape.
Ongoing efforts are preserving and enhancing the historic landscape including the family’s elegant 1925 French Chateau designed by architect Edward J. Thole, a 1920's horse barn and multiple residential structures. Our team assisted in the adaptive re-use of two farmhouses dating from the turn of the 20th century as well as various other landscape improvements on the property. These structures now serve as employee offices, conference and break rooms as well as a private residence for special guests and lecturers. The historically sensitive renovations demanded great attention to detail due to the many upgrades needed for convenience and comfort while maintaining a high degree of authenticity.
