Copper House, located on historic West Franklin Street in Evansville, Indiana, is a celebrated culinary destination housed in an handsomely renovated 1890's warehouse. The space had previously functioned as micro-brewery, presenting both opportunities and challenges. Notably, the original commercial kitchen was situated on the second floor, an impractical arrangement for efficient restaurant operations.
Our team played a key role in reconfiguring the facility for expanded restaurant use, relocating the main commercial kitchen to the first floor to optimize workflow and service. Additionally, we guided the project through a Change-of-Occupancy approvals for two large industrial areas of the building, transforming one into a distinctive private dining area now known as The Garden Room.
In collaboration with Matt Wagner Design and Wilde Horticulture, The Garden Room was designed as a multifunctional space for large private gatherings, holiday parties, and chef-led events, offering guests an intimate and immersive culinary experience. The space incorporates thoughtful landscaping, natural light, and carefully curated interior finishes, creating an atmosphere that complements the historic character of the original warehouse while providing modern comfort and elegance.
Today, Copper House and The Garden Room exemplify how adaptive reuse can honor historic architecture while enhancing functionality and guest experience, offering visitors a memorable combination of refined dining, architectural character, and personal connection with the culinary team.
